In der kanadischen freien Presse CFP findet sich ein interessanter Artikel, der Meinungsfreiheit selbst für Holocaust-Leugner einfordert. Aufhänger ist natürlich das Urteil gegen David Irving. Auch der vielleicht bekannteste englische Männerrechtler „Angry Harry“ ist von Irvings Verurteilung nicht besonders angetan:

„If Jewish folk think that they will benefit from this, they are sorely mistaken.
1. Irving will now be seen as a martyr for free speech - as I now see him - after all, it is his speech that got him imprisoned.
2. Many people - and millions of Muslims - will think that the very fact that he was punished for speaking suggests that there must be something to hide; notably, that the holocaust has been exaggerated.
3. Millions of Muslims will be now be able to argue that it should also be forbidden for Jews to say ... .... whatever! ... ... and they will get angry when Jews say whatever it is.
4. The 'hidden power' of the Jewish lobby has been exposed even more - which will backfire horribly - now that we have the internet, and now that there are millions of Muslims ferreting around for reasons to hit out at Jews.
5. Jewish people will lose more support from those people who believe in free speech. And there are many millions of those.”

Ja, ich könnte mir vorstellen dass das passiert. Insbesondere nachdem Item 5 auf dieser Liste ziemlich genau das ist, was der Zentralrat der Juden in Deutschland bei mir damals mit seinen unablässigen Attacken gegen den Israelkritiker Jürgen Möllemann erreichte. Dasselbe habe ich bei anderen Liberalen beobachtet. Und Leute wie Henryk Broders „Achse des Guten“ oder Sacha Stawskis „Honestlys Concerned“ arbeiten noch heute mit großem Furor daran, dass die Unterstützung der Juden durch Freunde der Meinungsfreiheit weit geringer ist, als sie sein könnte. Etliche Juden, die mit Meinungsfreiheit nicht das geringste Problem haben, fallen hier der Selbstdarstellungssucht und der Selbstgerechtigkeit einiger Weniger zum Opfer.
